Ein Kind ist geboren
Das Weihnachtsfest ist sehr wichtig für die Welt - egal wie man zu Jesus steht. Egal, ob man glaubt, ob es ihn gegeben hat oder nicht. Oder ob das alles so ablief, wie wir es lesen.Â
Dieses Fest antwortet auf tiefe Sehnsüchte der Menschheit: Nach Frieden, nach Mitgefühl, nach Geborgenheit, nach Heimat. Und es antwortet auf die Sehnsucht nach Licht, besonders in dunklen Zeiten.
Es ist gut und richtig, dass an Weihnachten geschenkt wird. Denn schenken, hat ist eine Ausdruck der Dankbarkeit, einer Schwester der Liebe.
Es ist schon interessant, da geschehen so grausame Dinge in der Welt - und wir sehen zugleich in strahlende und fröhliche Gesichter, wenn wir nicht blind sein wollen. Wir sehen sie insbesondere in Kindern, auch wen wir vielleicht denken, das tun sie nur wegen der Geschenke.
Weihnachten hatte für mich als Kind etwas Magisches, das mich hinausführte über den Tellerrand es Alltags. Es ist eine Art Heimkommen, und das spüren die Kinder ganz besonders. Und deshalb müssen Menschen auch machmal weinen, wenn sei Lieder singen, die sie in einer Zeit gesungen haben, als sie noch verbunden waren. Oh, Du fröhliche …
Ja, wir können Weihnachten zu einer Zeit zur Zwiesprache mit unserer Seele machen. Weihnachten, in welcher Form auch immer, ist eine Erinnerung, dass wir nicht wirklich getrennt sind.
Ich bin sicher: Weinachten trägt dazu bei, dass ein bisschen weniger Schmerz in der Welt ist.
In diesem Sinne wünsche ich Euch ein frohes und tröstliches Weihnachtsfest.

A child is born
Christmas is very important for the world - no matter how you feel about Jesus. Regardless of whether you believe he existed or not. Or whether it all happened the way we read it.
This festival responds to the deep longings of humanity: for peace, for compassion, for security, for home. And it responds to the longing for light, especially in dark times.
It is good and right that gifts are given at Christmas. Because giving gifts is an expression of gratitude, a sister of love.
It's interesting that such cruel things happen in the world - and at the same time we see bright and cheerful faces, if we don't want to be blind. We see it especially in children, even if we perhaps think they only do it for the presents.
For me as a child, there was something magical about Christmas that took me beyond the confines of everyday life. It's a kind of coming home, and children feel that especially. And that's why people sometimes cry when they sing songs that they sang when they were still connected. Oh, Merry Christmas ...
Yes, we can make Christmas a time to commune with our souls. Christmas, in whatever form, is a reminder that we are not really separate.
I am sure that Christmas helps to make the world a little less painful.
